Professional racers do not wear a one-piece suit for the best possible performance. Bib tights and jersey united in one garment offer a better fit, more aerodynamics, less weight, fewer seams and better moisture management. Although the S-PHYRE one-piece was designed in the SHIMANO development lab and tested in the wind tunnel to reduce air resistance in the riding position to an absolute minimum, that does not mean it's meant for professional racers. On the contrary, it was developed for everyday use by demanding drivers.

Developing a completely new seat pad is a real challenge. Everyone has a favorite. Everyone has their own opinion. In the past, ideas were spontaneously developed from the gut. In the meantime a lot has happened. Based on hands-on experience, finite element analysis tools, computer modeling and many test sessions on the saddle, the creative minds of the Shimano S-PHYRE development team, along with passionate cyclists, have created the next generation of seat padding that is more powerful than ever.

Most seat cushions are developed from the saddle. In the strategic construction of S-PHYRE, on the other hand, the body is the starting point. So we have created a seat pad surface that provides incredibly smooth skin contact. Shock-absorbing materials are placed on the saddle-facing seat cushion side, minimizing friction and pressure points.
